    Hi guys,

While I like w7, its just a bit too slow for my taste. I've decided to downgrade back to the windows xp tablet 2005 pc edition. I have the install disk, but whenever I try to downgrade to xp via the install disk, i get a compatibility error. I've googled this, and it seems w7 doesn't support downgrading.

Anyone have any ideas on how to downgrade back to xp? Perhaps via bootup through BIOS? (which I forget how to do)

    thanks.

Hey, I've tried doing it with my Toshiba but, I have problems too. It won't let me format the harddrive.

Maybe you should try a programme like Dban to write 0s over the harddrive so everything is completely erased. - In my case I got an error saying something like "can't do it due to non fatal errors" and I couldn't format the harddrive this way.

However, I did manage to get an install of Win XP 64 bit on a 2gb partition on my harddrive and I had big driver issues such as ethernet and sound. So, I'm pretty much stuck with using Windows Vista or Windows 7 because Toshiba will support it with drivers.

It wouldn't surprise me if there are no Windows XP drivers for your new Toshiba either.

I don't like Windows 7 as much as XP either but, there are a few things you can do to make it appear like XP which is the best that I've been able to do for myself. - When I finally give my Toshiba a new harddrive I will probably install Windows XP on it initially and look harder to find alternatives to work all the components but, I probably won't be so lucky.

    That sucks.

I had XP on my m700 but upgraded to w7 RC, which is what I am using right now.

The only reason I want to downgrade to windows xp is because of the tablet capabilities. I can still use the m700 as a tablet, but with only a pen. In xp i could navigate with my fingers, by touching the screen. Is that possible in w7?
