All satellite line models in Asia have had Penryn T8300, T9300 for a quite while.

Portege M600 (in US U305) has had Penryn T8300 and I am thinking about buying it to replace my Satellite M200 P430T.

But this model A300 is a new model , I think, is designed based on Dynabook TX , not 100 percent sure though .........................it looks very similar to the Dyna book with the same T8100.

The speakers look nice or at least powerful , hope they are really HK speakers.

I just wish the A200 or this A300 were a bit smaller , in Asian market the main stream laptops are these with 14.1 inch not 15.4 inch.

So I think this thing won't sell well in Asia . Like the HP DV6700 , it will be unpopular here. Most of people here prefer the DV2700T over the DV6700T maybe people here are so small.

I think Acer 4920, Toshiba M200 and HP DV2700T are the most popular lappies in Thailand maybe just because there are no other choices left for people here but I like these 14.1 inch models, I think a 15.4 is too big to be truly portable.

The A300 is real nice, but checkout the Thinkpad X300 first! Its like the MacBook Air in many ways (size).... Penyrn.

They are too weak and slow and no discrete graphics out of my interest.

Any way if I were buying a Thinkpad ,I'd prefer T61 over X300 any day. As for the current, first generation Penryn CPUs , they are a bit too expensive for what they can do on current Santa Rosa plat form , all I can say now is not buy an expensive model like X300, MBA, HDX,Sony SZ like that price range, they are not designed for the Montebina, so they are not safe buys.

If I were buying a laptop now , just get an HP 6510b, a Dell Vostro1400 or a Toshiba U305 and save a bit of my money for near future, and as soon as a Montevina model comes out sell it and get a Montevina model.

I think the current Penryns are just like the first generation of C2Ds(before the Santa Rosa plat form came out such as T7200, T5300) having not their own house and in a few months will become a small part of CPU history. So if you want to buy a Penryn just wait till Montevina out...........other wise get a high end Merom(much cheaper than a Penryn but it's got 95 percent of a Penryn power and speed).

Also , if you care about weight so much , there are many models smaller and lighter than both of your choices ;Portege R500 series is a lighter and smaller laptop than the MBA and cheaper too.
