one simple question to A200 owners.

my thai friend wants to buy a A 200 with Core2duo T9300 ,ATI HD2600 with 256mb.

I am not sure this version of A200 is sold in US , but it is a good deal.

A200 P657T:T9300 CPU, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd(160 gb x2),ATI HD2600 and 4965 wireless.

It's around 1300 US , he is interested in this model because he thinks Toshiba gives actual recvery disks and his family likes Toshiba and HP.

he was interested in Pavillion DV2700T my model before but as I bought it for myself and it did not come with actual recovery DVDs he no longer likes it.

So did your A200 come with actual recovery DVDs or CDs?

I think as with my old U305, it comes with recovery DVDs.

I just bought an A200-24B from Dubai and it came with one recovery DVD.

Although I have no idea how to use it.

 

I'm from Canada, and it didn't come with DVD recovery's but you can make your own, takes a few minutes to burn 2 DVD's.

And it is also on a hidden partition on your HDD, so its there, just make sure you don't wipe it if you are reinstalling or something.

To use your recovery DVD's you just press F12 while booting up and select the DVD drive and boot it off from there and follow instructions.
And to use the recovery on the HDD, you just hold down the "0", by the 9, while restarting or when its booting up, i forgot which one, just did it like 5 days ago.

Pretty much all notebooks come with recovery DVD's or its hidden on your HDD.

I know I can make recovery DVD mself quite easily but I dont want to do it for him since he has no idea how to do it and I know he will call me to do it..........

any way, I will have him buy something come with a disk or 2..........maybe ASUS?

When i said i didnt know how to use it, i mean i had no idea what the options that come up after booting into the Toshiba Recvoery Environment mean.

One thing i do know is that all the partitions and the informations on the HDD are destroyed whcih is really really inconvenient.

 

sounds kinda odd , but why is it destroyed?

 

All of the A200/205's I have seen come with restore DVD's. Depending on the version it will be 1 or two DVD's.

 

hey, guys and girls how many HDDs do you have in your A200?

my friend's one has 2 , 160gb 5400rpm x2.

 

hope no more CDs , these are annoying my Lenovo came with many Cds.

 

I only have 1 HDD that thats a 120GB 5400RPM
