    Hi All,

i've read through some similiar posts with kind of the same problem, i'm doing an XP install on a new toshiba laptop w/ vista. when i put in the XP disc and get to the install screen, it says that setup can't find any hard discs.

i figured i either need a RAID driver or SATA disc. just wondering if anyone had any luck w/ this issue, probably doesn't have to be the exact same model...just problem!

    thanks!

Hey Mike, i had the same problem, you need to slipstream ur drivers into a new xp disc, or get ur drivers and load them through a usb floppy drive.

    thanks for the quick reply!

yeah i figured i'd have to go the floppy drive route...now for the hard part, do you remember where you got the drivers or would you still have access to them?

    thank you!

while i was waiting, i went to intel's site and found drivers for the 945 chipset (storage manager as well) so i'm sure these are close, if not the same.

i'm downloading the zip file now, i take it there are certain files that i will need to move to a floppy and run during the install (file is 21.xx MB too large for one floppy!)

Yeh you need the files iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat, iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat, iaStor.sys, and TxtSetup.oem, and copy them to the root of the floppy disc

nevermind, just extracted the file & answered my own question.

there's a sub folder in there specifically labeled f6flpy

thanks so much for all your help, i've been working on this issue for the past week, i tried everything from installing the os on the hard drive but in a different machine, to setting it up with a usb -> sata adapter, but it wouldn't let me install a primary OS onto a removable drive

thanks again, i know where to go if i need help in the future

    take care
