Balanced to High Performance power plans should work when gaming [I use balanced when gaming]. However, as a tip, gaming on a laptop is meant for occasions when the laptop is plugged into an outlet. Gaming while on battery will significantly shorten the life of the battery, and isn't something I would recommend.

However, it's your laptop. Good luck and keep us posted with any updates

    You should be ok.
I keep my battery in my laptop at all times, especially when gaming and connected to an outlet, and I haven't noticed any decrease in battery life.

Maybe others can chime in here.

The charge to the battery shuts off when it's fully charged. I had mine in all the time when I had my Qosmio. :D Great machine. ^_^

This Alienware I switched to was a crap choice. >.<
