    hey guys,

Haven't been around for a while, but decided to reinstall Vista on my X205, and noticed it was a bit sluggish for some reason. So, just ran 3dMark06, and scored 4945 points.... terrible... I was getting 6K on up before, any idea what I might have screwed up? Running all the latest toshiba drivers, Vista updates, and even ran a bit of an overclock (537 core, 810 memory) for the test.

Crysis Warhead is running terrible, I actually have to laugh, on my little Tablet with an integrated gpu, I'm getting very similar performance to my X205 in current state... and that's blowing my mind.

SLI is enable, running the newest toshiba video drivers (tried Laptopvideo 2 go's latest at first, but noticed poor performance with those, so thought I'd try the Toshib drivers, and games still run poorly. Confused, trying to figure out what I have messed up or forgotten, thanks for any help.

Haven't used the X205 lately, but getting some new games and want to get her in good shape.

ok, just updated video drivers to the latest 179.13 drivers, and got a 4893 at stock speeds.... so, don't think it's a video driver issue, any ideas what else it could be? struggling with this one.

    Thanks for any ideas

any chance some of Vista's power savings "features" are turned on??? I'm back in XP again, but a clean Vista install with SP1 should be pretty snappy on your machine.

    I'm seeing 8200 3dmark06 with a slight overclock on my Sli3

I agree with Y2K in that please check your power settings on Vista to make sure you are on the Performance settings and not the Power Saving mode which clocks down eveything. Also make sure that you are on AC power for sure and not battery power. Also compare your CPU score on 3DMark 2006 from your old score and see if there is a drastic change, if so then there is a possiblity that in the BIOS it could be set to be working on just a SINGLE CORE and not MULTIPLE cores. This happened to me with me Qosmio F55. I hope this helps, please let us know. God Bless :)

Hey, yep, just ran some test, and my CPU is only clocking to 1150mhz, instead of the 2500 that is should, and bus is only 90ish mhz, instead of 200.... what's the deal with that? I'm running High Performance mode in Vista, and my processor setting at 100% minimum and maximum under advanced options. And yes, I'm plugged in. The GPU's are clocked properly, 450/700 respectively. HELP ha, any ideas? This is a new one for me? Running a T9300 that has worked flawlessly until I installed Vista after running Xp for a few months.

Thanks for any help, this sucks!

    Ok, update....

Installed RMClock, never messed with it before but saw that it can modify the throttling, so figured why not... so, with it running I get my full 2.5ghz, just tried Crysis Warhead, and jumped from 18fps to 40+... so, this is my problem.

So, now my question, what's wrong with my Vista install in this case? I'd rather not have to run RM clock all the time, but this is my first time with this issue....any ideas?

    thanks again!

Also, ran 3dMark06 with RMclock running, and scored 8000 with stock clocks, so definately this is my problem, now just a proper fix!

Are you using the latest verion of RMClock ?? Also are you using Vista 32-bit or 64-bit ?? I saw this for 64-bit:

NOTE: Support for 64-bit Windows Vista is currently limited due to the kernel mode driver digital signature requirement of that OS (workarounds are necessary).

I hope this helps. God Bless :)

all I can think of is heat. Any chance your heat sinks need a good cleaning???? I don't know what else would throttle your system.

Ok, just ran 3dmark06 again, and got 8784 with a slight overclock of the GPU's... wanted to see if heat was an issue, and I honestly don't think it is. The highest the cpu core temp got was mid 60's c, and immediately dropped back to 41c after the test. Also ran Nvidia's stability test for 10 minutes with a full 100% cpu load at 2500mhz, and temps never went above mid 60's either, and ran fine.

So, this is with RMclock running and disabling the throttling, and it keeps my cpu at 2.5ghz constantly. But, without RMclock, it never goes past 1150mhz, reguardless what I do or have Windows power management set to.

    Confused on this one.
