    I didn't have enough space in my carryon and packed my laptop really well in my checked bag. TSA decided it needed inspecting and opened it up and now my screen is broken. I was never a huge fan of the screen to begin with, especially being a photographer and really needing proper color adjustments and such.

    I was wanting to upgrade the screen to an IPS display, but I haven't found any information on compatible displays. Does anyone know of any that would work?

    Specifically the C655D-S5048 model.

    I looked on laptopscreen.com but they don't have any listed, just a ho-hum glossy and matte.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi Swordfishes,

    You can try LP156WHA(SL)(L1) - Its an IPS panel, and it has the same size, the same connector, the same mountings and the same resolution as your original.
    Please let us know if it works in your laptop - if it does - it would be great news for members in the same situation.

    Cool!

    If this works - this will be awesome news for everyone with a TN 15.6" 40pin LVDS LED backlit panels - those are some of the most commonly installed displays in laptops.

    If you wanted to be extra nice about your project - a video of viewing angle comparison of the new panel would be awesome;

    Well I'm not sure if a viewing angle comparison would look the best with my half-shattered screen. But I'm definitely down for the install video!

    I wouldn't worry about the viewing angles on the shattered panel - most everyone who cares - already know that the angles/colorshift are really bad on the typical TN panel. What would be amazing to see is the Satellite C655D (one of the most populous computer) running an IPS panel - your will likely be the bona-fide first :)
