    replacing cd-rom

    does anyone know how to remove the cd-rom on the toshiba A60-S1662..Any help would be great.. thanks!

    Pickle,

    It's fairly easy, but as you know, this would void your warranty if you cause any damage, so try at your own risk.

    Now, to remove the optical drive, all you have to do is remove 1 screw located on the underside of the unit, just to the bottom right of the memory slot.

    Now you have 2 methods of removing the optical drive, the long way and the short way.

    The Long way requires the removal of the switch cover (located above the keyboard), 2 screws for the keyboard and then push the drive out to the left (small hole under the keyboard to push the drive out.

    The short way would be to use a paperclip and poke it lightly into the hole on your optical drive. This will eject the tray. All you need to do is lightly pull on the tray (may have to wiggle side to side slightly) to release the drive. It might get caught on some of the plastic siding, butif you do it slowly, it should work.

    That's it, all you need to do now is reverse the steps, and you're set.
