I have a toshiba P200-1IE and some days before, the display went black when the AC/DC adapter was connected. Now, when I unplug the AC/DC adapter the display goes on again and all works fine with only the battery supply.
    Some hints will be apreciated

Have got access to a volt testing meter to check the voltage coming out of the ac adaptor the same as is written on the bottom of the ac adaptor, though this can sometime show as normal until it is under load when you plug it in, if you can see if you can borrow an adaptor to try.

Thank you for your sugestion, I've already measured the output voltage of the AC/DC adapter and is 19 Volt, the same as indicated on the adapter.
I have already bought a new adapter and the results are the same. The problem is for sure inside the laptop Satellite P200.
