I read that vista 32 bit doesn't see more than 3 GB, the question is can I upgrade the memory of the satellite P100-160 to 3GB (2+1) or the number in the bank must be the same (1+1, 2+2)?
    Thanx
    Tom

They do not need to be the same size.

many thanks, I discovered that according to the manual the P100 is a dual-channel memory so it's optimised for using same memory in the banks, I was wondering if someone has tried the 3GB (2+1) option vs the 2GB (1+1)

Dual-Channel will only yield a 3-5% performance boost compared to non dual. Go ahead and upgrade to 3gb, Just make sure your new 2GB stick is 667 mhz and not 533 or else your memory will clock down to the lower one.

In dedicated memory benchmark - yes. Because CPU alone can saturate mostly only single-channel bandwidth.

Hovewer it will yield a big boost when _videocard_ accesses RAM too simultaneously with CPU (via NVidia TurboCache).

my actual mamory is DDR2-533MHz, if i replace all the memory with a new one, is the the 667MHZ compatible? Not sure if Core 2 Duo T5200 is a 64bit processor (?) so I will reinstall the 32 bit Vista, in this case the lap can see only 2.5-3GB of ram, so what upgrade u recommend: 1+1, 2+2, 2+1?
