I have this laptop and have seen no issue with this fan. Yes, if i have like.. F.E.A.R. 2 on full graphics.. it gets a bit toasty then the fan kicks in, but that's it. When my laptop gets hot, the fan kicks in.

I never had that problem on my A500 neither. When just browsing on the net, listening to music, IMing friends, the fan is off and sometimes turns on. When im playing games the fan kicks in but its only hot around the vent area which is perfectly normal

have you checked the running percentage of the fan? i read that it runs at 50%, but then afterwards, the fan kicks at 70% even when the processor is cool (approx. below 40°C). the fan can't revert back to 50% running rate, which produces noise.

does the fan turn off after the cpu/gpu has cooled enough?

i'm skeptical in getting this laptop because of this issue that i've read over the toshiba forum.

    Hi!

To solve the fan issue, simply update your bios.
