I selected new Toshiba notebook computers for myself and for my daughter because I read that Toshiba had the fewest number of problems with their notebook computers. But one of the computers we received had a defective keyboard. I happen to work 10 miles from a Toshiba authorized repair center so I took the computer there for warranty repair since my daughter has to leave soon to return to college. The warranty repair center confirmed that the keyboard was warped, but they said they are not allowed to repair it. They said some of the Toshiba models, including ours, have to be shipped back to China for repairs! And we have to wait for them to send us a box FROM China before we can send the laptop back TO China in it. No way this thing is getting back before my daughter leaves to return to college, maybe not before she gets out for the summer.

The reviews said to buy Acer or ASUS over Toshiba but I picked Toshiba because I thought I knew better. I guess I didn't know better and now I have to suffer for it.

Bring it to another authorized service depot or call toshiba service yourself. Authorized repair depots are privately owned and each one of them you will get different responses.

I saw the chart, that's why I selected Toshiba. Didn't work in my case.

The authorized repair place told me that Toshiba corporation had selected certain models that they would not let independent repair centers do warranty repairs on, and again my luck was against me.

You should buy the Tecra models if you want them to never fail (except the ones with the faulty nvidia G86 and G84 cores).
