    Hi,
    i have a toshiba satellite A105-s2031 laptop.
    it has only 512MB RAM.

i want to upgrade the ram to 1GB or maybe 2GB.

the RAM installed in my laptop is:

    DD2 PC2-4200-533MHZ 200pin

is it possible to replace the present RAM with DDR2 PC2-5300 on this laptop??
will it be compatable if iam using the same 200pin RAM although the clockspeed is different??

    pls. let me know,
    Thanku for answering. :)

Crucial is widely considered the best company. Kingston is fine too, but doesn't have the same reputation. So if the price is about the same for the two companies Crucial is the way to go in my opinion.

You probably can install the DVDRW to replace your drive. As far as I know Toshiba generally uses standard connectors for the optical drives (not sure about the A105). Just make sure it matches in size and connection and it should be fine. If I were you, before making a purchase that a picture of it and check out the model number (on the drive itself). Google around and I'm sure you'll find your answer. :)

I'm glad to help :) . If you have any questions in the future feel free to PM me. That looks like a good guide you linked to.

Good luck with your notebook upgrade! I'm sure you will love the improvement of the extra RAM :).

    Do you mean either 2GB (2 x 1GB) or 2GB (1 x 2GB)?

Getting 2 x 1GB is probably the better option as it will likely be less expensive. Also, your computer supports Dual Channel when using identical RAM modules, so you may see some performance increase with it.

Since your laptop supports a maximum of 2GB anyway, I don't see much reason to get the 1 x 2GB module.
