    hi there

    i have a satellite pro 6000 which shuts off after 45 mins appears to be overheating i think.when the laptop is on there is no noise at all as if no fans are running then evry so often i hear a fan start up then almost immediately cut out again,can anyone tell me if there should be a fan running constantly or have any suggestions as to what could be wrong

    Welcome to NBR, mercury270.

    Download a processor temperature monitoring program, and check the temperature of the processor. It is normally that, which causes the notebook to either restart or stut down. Also, if the fan is trying to startup but doesn't, it suggests that somthing migjt be wrong with fan itself, or something is preventing it from. Cleaning the vents and generally removing dust from inside the notebook may be a good idea.

    blow the fan/heatsink out with some compressed air. If that doesnt solve the problem its most likely not a overheating issue.
