my tecra m2 appears to have lost drive D ... does not show in My Computer or anywhere else ...light flickers when I insert a disc , but then goes off ... any ideas ??

i doubt this will help but right click on my computer >properties>hardware>device manage. now locate your cd/dvd drive entry and expand. if it has a red cross its disabled. it is right click >properties and enable.

try booting from the drive. If you can boot from it, then you most likely have a software conflict in windows. The simplest fix is to restore the OS using the restore discs that came with your computer.
Alternately you can try implimenting a registry fix. I have attached the registry fix as a TXT file. just rename the extension to .reg and then double click on the file. It will ask you if you want to load the information into the windows registry. click ok/yes and then restart the laptop.
If at this point windows still does not see the drive ( and you can boot from the drive) I would suggest restoring the OS.Attached Files:
