Ok I have been looking for MONTHS (literally) for a laptop....I was wondering which Toshiba is the best for watching movies, everyday emailing, web surfing, and just normal stuff? Thanks

I like the Tecra models...Are they good ones, are they old?

What is the newest laptop Toshiba has out?

Does any of them have Penryn?

I had a Toshiba for the last Year, i just sold it recently. They are a little expensive and it ran slightly hotter than confortable sometimes. Id suggest HP over Toshiba any day though. If interested, fill out the FAQ Here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=29271

I belive they do have Penryn now... If not, very shortly- but im almost positive they do.

The Tecra series are more businessy. Most likely better built than the regular.
If you are just looking to use it for movies, word, internet, you can pretty much buy the cheapest Toshiba with 2GB ram.

I would suggest you stay as far as you can from HP right now. Most of their current models have a manufacture defect for the motherboard. We are seeing hoards of them come in for repair right now.

The Tecras are generally based on current consumer models, but add a video card. If I were you I would purchase one of the A205 models that does NOT come with a dedicated video card.

I would stay away from Hp as well, way to many horror stories.
I am typing on a 7 yr old satellite. The cd/rewrite just quit re-writing like a week ago.
I was going to go with another toshiba but the model I wanted, A210-215 has been a nightmare, issue may be fixed now, but it's 3 generations too late.
I had a tecra for 2 days. Their was a "foot" that just barley made contact with my desk, that was not cool, and it's real business orientated. There's no lauch buttons what soever. It was pretty inconvienient.
I am going with fujitsu. This is just my opinion, but being built in japan by fujitsu themselves, having customer service speak english, (in canada), and lifetime support sold me. I also just read that the parts used in a fujitsu are (for the most part) made by them.
And reliability is my biggest pro.
    good luck whatever you choose.
