I don't really see why you'd want to downgrade. It runs great on my A210-11P and I wouldn't choose to go back to XP; it feels a bit dated now I'm used to Vista. I recommend making sure Vista's upto date and removing any unnesecary startup programs to help free up resources.

I've got my RAM usage down to 28% at startup with around 50 processes. The updates to Vista have definately helped a lot too; there is less hard drive activity.

i gathered going back to xp it would run a lot faster to be honest ive only had it a month so not really got stuck into it .

any tips on any tweaks or startup tips. mine seems to take ages to start up .
the only things i have running in systray are webroot spy sweeper and nod 32 smart suite and network connectivity.
    cheers

Check out all the drivers here:
    http://support.toshiba.ca/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp

There are 9 model numbers to the A210 - at least a couple of them are bound to match your configuration. Download your spec sheet from the Toshiba UK/US website and compare specs with the Canadian models, download the drivers which belong to the closest model (choose XP as your operating system).

There are plenty of ways to speed up your startup. Try CCleaner - a FREE and extremely effective program to eliminate those dragging programs which slow your laptop down. http://www.ccleaner.com/
Have a look at the list of startup programs - maybe longer than you think!

Use nlite to slipstream drivers and install a lean and mean version of XP. My laptop boots in 14 seconds now. I downgraded from appalling Vista as well.

    Cheers

What I did was: looked on toshiba site for Xp drivers, for some components they had some. For the rest I found out which model was the component and went to the producers site and took it.
