For what it's worth, I've disliked the keyboard (too much flex) and the touchpad (too small) on every Toshiba I've tried, including some with this design. This may or may not bother you, so see if you can find one in a store to try out in person. On the plus side, they look nice and have nice screens.

I own this model and like it. Its got an ATI m200 video card which is slow for 3d games but fine for dvd/mpeg4 videos. Got mine on sale for $500 at bestbuy.

A lot my friends are using this model because it's quite cheap and has various CD/C2D version. IMO...battery life is tooo short and tooo much flex everywhere in keyboard area. For that price, you couldnt complaint too much.

I have this same one. I personally really like this computer, but is is also my first laptop. So far it has treated me very good. I also got it at best buy when they had it on sale for 500 bucks. As for ram, mine came with one stick of 512mb. right now i have 1.5gb of ram. Now for it being slow...this is my first experience with dual core processors so to me it seems very fast, at least compared to the old Pentium 4 desktop i was using. The battery does have a shorter life than i was expecting, even on "power saver" it only lasts around 2 hours or so, and thats not with heavy use. The flex in the keyboard i have heard others talk about it as well, but again, this my first laptop so i really don't notice it.

Yes, i think its worth it. but also depends on what all you are going to use it for...so far it has worked very well for me. the heaviest work i do might be playing music, using messenger, surfing the web, and editing pictures at the same time (editing and converting canon raw files). so far seems to handle itself really well...

It's just too slow in my opinion, not suitable for running Vista... the battery life is ridiculously short, and the build quality is rather flimsy. Even with the budgeted price, I kinda regret buying it when perhaps I could put in a $100 more and get another laptop with much much better quality and performance (bought it for $500).

Tips: Uninstall McAfee Antivirus and get an alternative anti-virus software (I use AVG) and those preinstalled Toshiba games, this will greatly improve the machine speed.
