    hello friends !

i recently purchased a a205-p7548 toshiba laptop and since day one my screen goes blank and now has stayed blank, but when i connect my laptop to an external monitor i can see my desktop,

i changed power management settings to 100% and upgraded my bios to v 1.9
but still the problem persists and is there any way i can uninstall my bios and reinstall it....my laptop seems to be working perfectly otherwise
i kindly request your help and suggestions

    thank you very much

hi, sudden black or blank screen - very common problem with toshiba laptop.. so, i recieved a lot of emails with this problem and there are few solutions but i dont think there is one solution that will definitely work.. you wrote that you updated bios to the latest version - thats solution number 1, solution 2 - setting procesor to work 100 % all the time - thats a solution from toshiba service but i dont think it is a solution cause it is not a portable laptop anymore, it also doesnt work a lot, solution 3 - removing toshiba power saver from registry - dont know where exactly is toshiba power saver program in registry now but try to google, or just uninstall it, solution 4 - overheating - install for example Notebook hardware control and check the temperature of your cpu or maybe some tool or software that can monitor your graphic temeperature would be good, solution 5 - install all avaible updates of vista, solution 6 - send it to repair service if you are sure that you tried everything - maybe it is a problem with motherboard or graphic...

You have probably already tried this but I didn't see it mentioned...did you accidently set the output to external monitor? I don't have the laptop in front of me, but it's usually Fn-F6 or something similar. Probably not that, but atleast bang on that a couple times and see how it responds.

i forgot one thing to ask - is the screen totally black and you cannot see anything or can you see something on the screen like - not very bright but at least there is something in backround?? (icons or something).. because if you can see something that might be 90% a problem with INVERTOR - small piece inside your laptop that controlls brightenes (i guess).. if so, only solution is to give it back to toshiba and they will replace it or if you are brave, you can do it on your own, i think there is a manual on internet -google it...

it is very strange that this problem is still alive in toshiba laptops. toshiba support came with 3 bios updates that are solving this problem but in fact they are not!!!!!!

write back if anything changed.. good luck
