Unless you are in a heavily networked environment like the need to log into an NT Domain Controller, I doubt you'll see much of a difference. There is no reason the drivers shouldn't work. A fresh install of XP Home should help speed things up a bit by getting rid of all the garbage Toshiba puts on their.

XP Home cannot log into a NT Domain Controller. If you are on a corporate or school network this may be an issue if you have to get log in to get access to network resources. Obviously if you are using this at home, it won't be an issue. I meant re-installing XP Home to get rid of the extra stuff Toshiba puts on thier. You can get rid of it through Add/Remove programs, but it always leaves remnants. A copy of XP Pro is going to cost you $100, probably more. Unless you are in one of the situations listed above, I do not think it is worth it.

thanx a lot again. i understand what u meant. i really need xp professional, i'm a programmer so i need to run web server, database server installed. xp home doesn't do a thing. i'd rather spend $100 for xp professional than have useless(regarding the current situation) xp home

I see what you mean. There are only XP drivers, not Home or Pro.

In most cases, the drivers should be compatible between XP Home & XP Pro, but I think I have seen times when the drivers weren't 100% compatible.

Just download all the lastest drivers online and burn to CD and the upgrade your OS.

I'd also recommend finding out exactly what chipset, video card and wireless card you have in the unit. You may be able to get these drivers directly from the part manufacturer rather than Toshiba. You can test them on your XP Home OS before wiping, this way you don't mess up your new XP Pro OS if these drivers don't work.

I installed the Intel chipset & wireless drivers as well as the graphics drivers directly from ATI and it sped up my system and increased my battery runtimes, but I also killed all the junk the HP loads in their units.
