    Im here to find out if any one has purchased a toshiba a75 s229 that was shipped with out a serial number. I purchased this toshiba model for my girl friend from the shop at home tv network jan 05. she has a problem with the power connection and can't get it serviced because it has no serial number. she brought it to a service center in kansas and the tech told her that toshiba knows about the missing serial numbers but isn't helping . please help me

    There is a chance that you can find the serial number using DMI utility. This utility is not for general public, but if you take your laptop to Toshiba repair center, they can try to read the serial number from the system board. I'm not sure if they tried already. The DMI string will tell you the serial number and the configuration code. I hope the serial number was written when they built your laptop.
    If you will not find it, you have to call Toshiba.
