I have a toshiba satelite L355D. I turn it on but when it tries to boot up but after a couple of seconds it shuts off, before i replaced the fan it would run for about 45mins, i thought that that was the problem. Can you help me out as to whats wrong with it.

what did you remove when you stripped it down to replace the fan? sounds possibly like you've unseated the cpu heat sink and its shutting down to preserve itself

I agree with F7 above me. I think you should honestly check the machine again, take it apart and REALLY look at it. I was fortunate enough to make sure I reconnected everything properly. o.o

The only thing I removed was the keyboard. I never went anywhere near the cpu or heat sink

where was the fan located though? usually it is sat right on the heatsink and if the sink was disturbed and heat paste has dried out it could of cracked easily leading to overheating issues
however after re-reading the original post, i'm not convinced and overheat is the issue as usually the laptop would run for a few minutes unless you have a very temp sensitive or high power cpu
