hey i'm new here, and i've had my laptop for awhile already, maybe half a year. i've never used the dvd-r before, but i've burned cd's countlessly. a few days ago i used the dvd burner and it worked fine, except today when i used it, well it didnt work haha.. i get a "tracker/focus failure"

basically i put a dvd-r into the drive and my computer and burning rom won't read the cd. i tried disabling/enabling the drives and restarting and the problem sitll recurs. any suggestions?

    much appreciated

    1. Try updating the DVD burner firmware. You may have to contact Toshiba for this or search the web for your specific model

    2. Try using a different app to burn the DVD's

    3. Try different media, the media you're using may be incompatible with your drive

    4. Get drive replaced, possibly defective.

I just got mine today so this may not have anything to do with what your talking about. When I booted up for the first time it told me that if I wanted to use the dvd+- r I would have to disable the cd rom drivers. You may want to check into that as well. that may not have anything to do with it. The cd drivers may have gotten turned back on since you burned a DVD. Then again, I could have totally mis-understood what the notebook was saying when I booted it
