I started formatting my hard drive using the original cd came with my notebook.
But whenever I format it, it goes to the point where it says formatting and shows the percentage progress, but just hangs there for ever.
Any suggestion, why it is doing this[?]

Do you let it go for a while? Sometimes it can take a very long time.

    There's a couple possibilities:

    1. The HDD is defective
    2. The unit is defective

To test, you cam try to boot off a different OS CD (not the Toshiba CD's) and try formatting the drive manually (Win98, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003, etc...) and see if it works.

If that doesn't work, you know it has nothing to do with the CD's from Toshiba. If possibly, try popping another HDD into the unit and see if it works (or put the drive into a USB drive case and connect to a different system and try to format. If it works, it means it's your system, not the drive.

All you need to do is send the unit in for repair.
