No reviews that I know of yet.

They should be the exact same as the 89X series, except for the new motherboard and CPU.

Sandy Bridge is supposed to be 25% to 35% faster than the 1st-gen i5/i7 chips. They are also supposed to run cooler and have better battery life than the 1st-gen i5/i7 chips also. Thus, I think SB chips are worth getting.
They do cost more, however I think they would cost the same if not cheaper than the 898 Qosmio.

Walmart.com: Toshiba Omega Black 18.4" Qosmio X505-Q8104 Laptop PC with Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor and Windows 7 Home Premium: Computers
The top one I've seen. Only $1700. Has SB i7 chip, with 1 TB ROM (no SSD), 8 GB 1333 RAM, and bluetooth 3.0, 1080p screen.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

wow..30% faster.. that's a lot! so that could be better than SSD performance. Question however is .. without the benchmarks.. are these as good as they're on paper!

Sorry I should have clarified, the CPU is supposed to be 25-35% faster, I don't know if that applies to the entire computer

    thanks mate for the link/info...

In their summary, apart from all the good stuff like faster.. less electricity.. this bit was a bit confusing..

The latest Intel chips are so fast that, to use all their potential in the games, you must have efficient graphics card than the GeForce GTX 460M. With this card, along with Sandy Bridge Evidence jump performance at lower resolutions only test, in the upper ball and chain becomes too slow graphics chip.

That's why I always say that 1080p is too much for 460m gtx.
If you think about 945p it is still a quite good choice. Otherwise we need to wait for 5XX series.

Being a faster processor the entire system will be quicker. In games you'll get more fps than what the i7 740QM can push the gtx 460m. the new i7 2630QM will make the gtx 460m the bottleneck!.. but honestly I dont think it would be worth getting SB UNLESS they include a new graphics card ;).. i7 2630QM and a gtx 480 or 560 would then be worth the upgrade. Plus you can always get the Q898 and a year from now buy the motherboard for SB and swap it out. I dont see why they wou'ldnt work. Same chassis. same mobo design. Should but you never know.

The gtx460m already bottleneck with the i7. In high res like full hd you dont see much difference between SB and i7
