The L35 has poor to mediocre build quality, and is not very highly spec'ed, but for basic tasks, I think it will suffice.

I'm on this laptop right now, and I'm telling you to STAY AWAY. I've had numerous problems with it already. I tried reformatting with XP. Toshiba mad all the drivers for this comp with XP except for the audio and graphics drivers. Good job, guys. Tried Linux. No go. Now I'm stuck with Vista. Tweaked it to make it less annoying, but it's still Vista. I put 2G of RAM in here and it still runs like my grandmother sometimes. Fan is loud and persistent. Power settings don't always kick in when you tell them to. Hard disc constantly spinning for no reason. Often freezes for about 20-30 seconds, then unfreezes to tell me that my drive just stopped for no reason. Oh, and now it won't read CD/DVD/etc. from the disc tray. Yeah. I've had this thing for about a year and treated it like royalty. There is no reason it should be like this.

Crappy engineering, crappy components, crappy battery life, crappy performance, crappy response time, crappy computer.
