I have a Toshiba Satellite U205-S5034. EXACT same problem except my computer was "Vista Ready": after installing VISTA I went back to XP. That's when the brightness controls wouldn't work. I've tried installing various versions of Toshiba's Fn-esse Utility for Windows XP to no avail--either they freeze the computer upon install or say that the BIOS number can't't be found. Very frustrating--any help?
