My wife has had a toshiba tecra A6-S513 for about 8 months. We've noticed that it seems to loose time in windows, although I cannot seem to find a pattern in what causes this.

Anyone have any suggestions? BIOS upgrade, windows patch? I'm a little lost on this one, having never seen this before. Thanks!

it sounds like you have a bad bios battery... check in your bios if its holding the time... and settings

I would also check the battery. How much time is it losing? Does it lose time plugged and unplugged, after running for a few hours or only between boots? The Windows clock has never been very good in my experience. If you double click on the clock in the task tray, you will find under the far right tab an option to synchronize with the Window's time server. This might help alleviate the problem.

opps, sorry for the double topic.

how can i check to see if the bios is "holding time" just watch the clock tick by? I'll keep an eye on it some more. Thanks for the feedback thus far.

I think the question to answer is when does the notebook lose time?

LOL, makes me think of Primal Fear...

The main power supply can keep the time accurate when it's on, but if it's losing track of time between boots, it's likely the CMOS battery as mentioned.
