ok well i live in canada, and just decided to pick up the x300 for kicks. i was planning on getting a sager 5796 ans still might, but i wanted to try this. im probably going to return it (good ol' bestbuy return policy :))

my first impressions were that i thought it would be, well slow with its 2.0 ghz processor and the 9700 GTS graphics card. it took about 1 hr to boot up with all of the bloatware.

when i started playing around with it, it seemed very fast, no lagging and the wifi is faster than my actual desktop. i have yet to try any games on it, but am downloading crysis demo.

ive noticed a few minor problems with this so far. 1 is that the keyboard feels loose when typing, mostly around the "x" key and the numberpad, but im getting used to it. the bottom right speaker feels a little loose, but not that big of a problem. the top right, above the keyboard, the plastic isin't clipped in or something like the right side is, but i dont want to try and fix it and maybe break it.

some of the pros of this laptop is that the sound is amazing, probably the best ive heard on a laptop. its really fast for doing all tasks, except gaming as i havent tried it yet. i also love the look of this thing, but not so much the cover, but its ok. i love all the lights and little things that make this thing look so cool when its open.

the screen is very bright and vivid, and even for a 1440 screen, its a good size.
im typing all of this on the laptop while it is on my lap, and thats pretty managable. it does get warm on the bottom but ok, but for probably no more than an hour or so. theres also no keyboard lag when typing, which is a plus.

ill also try and get pics and do a better review of it later, as i, for some reason cant download the crysis demo.

Sounds like you have the x305. A few of us on here have the x300 since the last week or so and the specs vary in quite a few places. CPU is a P8600 @ 2.4GHz, HDD is 320GB and also comes with biometric entry plus a media remote which fits into the Express Card slot. Apart from those pretty much the same.

Only the basic x305 exists with 2.0GHz CPU so bestbuy are probably not showing it correctly.
As I understand it, it is modular so you should be able to upgrade both as well as add in an extra HDD.

Are you sure it's not just one partitioned into two?

Should be as one is for recovery.

Also note that the specs on bb show 6x USB 2.0 ports!

    ha i didnt notice that,

and now that i look into it, it is a partitioned hard drive

probably the reason that i dont care what is on this this thing is because that im not going to keep it :)

The X300-11S has one hard drive partitioned to two - even though one partition holds the recovery files.
