I found the OEM Toshiba Vista on my x205 to be extremely slow, and gaming performance very poor. XP runs great, once I found all of the drivers.

I'm tempted to try a clean Vista install now that SP1 is out, but haven't yet (I hate the way it imports all of your media and moves everything around).

If you have an XP disc, I'd try it out. It's easy to restore to Vista if that is what your machine came with.

    thanks for replying,

"once i found all the drivers" - what does this refer to? drivers for the OS or other?

and have you installed sp3 with winxp? i have heard it does not improve anything...however i read somewhere that it helps with dual core systems??

    cheers

SP3 caused me no problems, and it solves the problem of having to reboot 100times after a clean install....if nothing else.

If your machine came from Toshiba with only Vista available, you'll have to find all of your hardware drivers on your own, as Toshiba doesn't package them for you.

I just did a clean install of Vista, to see how it performs now that SP1 is out. It is working well, just need to get a few games installed and see if it performs.....
