    i need help i want to install windows xp pro on my l300d - 242 laptop and it wont work ive tried setting up the device (HDD) manully but still nothing and ive tried a new hard drive and wnt work and ideas? :(

    Win XP install CDs don't include SATA drivers. See here how to make an installation CD with the proper drivers.

    Boot up the laptop and go into BIOS.

    There should be something called "SATA Controller Mode"

    Change this from AHCI to Compatibility and save changes.
