I am using vista. Sometimes (not every time), when i get back from sleep mode or Hibernation, the wifi become not working. It was not just lost the connection, vista actually couldn't detect the wifi card. I had to restart the machine to make it work. What is wrong on it?

Same here, I haven't found a solution yet either. It's as you say, the wifi card is not longer listed in the device manager and the orange LED is off. Most annoying and the latest drivers didn't make any difference....
-
Same problem with XP here. I've turned off hibernation or any sleep features, or so I thought. The wifi dies and cannot be restored unless you reboot. Repair always fails. It's almost like the wifi device disappears. I'm going to try an external PC wifi card.

Try this suggestion:

Thanks, but I don't think this is the problem, the Atheros network card disappears from device manager, never to be seen again until a reboot.

I just got this laptop a few weeks ago but connect to multiple waps per day and have never come across this issue. Maybe it has come loose from the socket?
-
Not to labor the point, but it is not a mechanical issue. It works fine n number of times connecting to the same AP, then suspending, and then at some point will fail to connect. Going to device manager will reveal that the Atheros wifi card is no longer present. I have found no solution other than a re-boot, where the cycle will start all over again.

I bought the A135-s2386 2 weeks ago and found the same problem.
Can anyone of you guys call Toshiba ?I am not good at English ,so I can not
do that.
If someone is willing to call and get a answer, please let me know, thank you. -

I posted a different question in the wireless section related to changing the Atheros mini-PCIe card for an Intel 3495. WhackyT (thanks!) pointed me to the latest Atheros Drivers on an FTP site. I have installed the 7.2.0.215 drivers and so far so good.
Here's the ftp site

Here's the original thread

Hope this helps.

Sometimes after i start up from hibernation, the wifi is off, i mean the wifi light is off even the wifi switch is on. Does anyone have the same problem??
-
I think you are describing the same issue that I and others are discussing in this thread. Go to the device manager and see if the Atheros device is in the network adapters section when you see this issue. In my case after a certain number of resumes from hibernate, the Atheros 802.11 device simply disappears. So far the latest driver I linked to on the previous page solved this issue.

If your new driver solves the problem,I mean ,if the problem doesn't occur in the
several future days, pls post here.because the laptop is not in my hand for the time being. -
-
Your description of the problem matches mine and others experiences (LED off, no device in device manager after a resume from hibernate). Try the latest driver, seems to have worked for me!

Quick Update - latest drivers didn't solve the issue, it did it again last night. I going to dump the Atheros for an Intel 3945 and see what happens then.

Bcs the problem can appear even when waked up from sleeping,I guess there may be a bug in Toshiba's power management software which will occasionally
cut off the power to the wireless adapter as if the adapter moved out of the slot.that is why the wireless indicator always doesn't light and the wireless adapter couldn't be found in device manager. -
I'm seeing the same problem on an A135-S2356, except in my case the orange WiFi light always turns on when the laptop wakes up, even when the WiFi adapter has disappeared from the Device Manager. I have the latest driver, latest BIOS, and I've even restored the hard drive to its initial factory state. I called Toshiba, and they said I need to bring the laptop in to a service provider.
Has anyone found a resolution for this problem? -
Nope, my guess is that it is a bug in the ASPM power management for the Atheros mini-PCIe card. I tried a Dell 3945 mini-PCIe card, but the Toshiba wouldn't even post with it in there. That is the usual FCC BIOS BS that I have seen on other machines. So we are stuck unless anyone can point me to a BIOS that will support the 3945 (I've given up on Atheros, their website is full of corporate feel-good BS and no help for their actual customers).

I have a two month old A135-S2386 with Vista and had wifi issues the first day. I uninstalled Toshiba's utilities and haven't had a problem since. I haven't touched the drivers beyond what Windows Update has done automatically. I'm sure I lost some functionality, but it's worth it to avoid debugging someone else's problem.

I have got this same problem using Acer Aspire 4720z. I just have only way by disconnect every 30min to avoid reboot machine.
