I have a satellite a205. It has no s video output and I need to hook up to my tv. The tv is a toshiba hdtv (tube set), with all the standard inputs. (No vga). I hooked a vga to dvi adapter in conjuction with a dvi to hdmi adapter. (the audio connects separately) When i set the display output to "external crt" I get a blank screen. I need to know if this setup will work and if so are there other settings I need to change. I would appreciate any help on this! Justjack

I just checked the Satellite A205 Series Detailed Product Specification at the Toshibe website. Your model has a S-Video port. It might be seven pin female receptacle but a 4-pin S-video cable will fit and work.

Actually, they must have made more than one version of this model: Where the s video conn. would have been there is a blank plate! They did the same thing with the SD flash memory card slot. I thought the the unit was priced quite attractively; this is partially why. Unfortunately, I had not seen a need to connect to a tv at that time. I'm still hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. justjack

I'm sorry. Since you did not list your exact model (A205-?????), I was only able too look at the general A205 specification and not the one specific to your model. If your computer only has a VGA output port, then you will have to buy an analog to Digital converter to get it to work on your digital HDTV. You cannot connect an analog signal to a digital input without using a converter box. The box retails for about $300.
without s video, how to hook up to tv?
