Well i wont be blaming Microsoft, Nvidia , or even Toshiba for anything like other users do. I believe that glitches always happen.
The thing is, I used to play all of my computer games on my x200-15k with good frame rates. ( unreal tournament 3, Call Of Duty 4, Command & Conquer Tiberium wars... ) . so yesterday, and surprizingly, Unreal Tournament's frame rates dropped like crazy. By the look of it, it looks like anti-alliaising is applied. I tried playing the other games, and i had this same problem, and all other games seem to have an anti-alliasing option enabled. I'm so sure that anti-alliasing isn't activated from the games' options. I then checked the Nvidia control panel, and made sure to disable anti-alliasing from there. But nothing changed. I tried installing new Nvidia drivers, with modded inf in order to support my geforce 8700m GT, but nothing changed as well. So, my guess was that my windows vista had made updates, and one of the updates is responsible for this. I went to system restore, in order to restore my computer to an earlier date, where recent updates weren't installed, but i received an error telling me that windows cannot restore to any of the existent checkpoints.
Does anyone know what I should do ?

Did you change the "master" settings in the nvidia panel from Quality to performance?
However, I'm sorry to ask you this but how is that related to Vista?
EDIT: Also, it might just be that you were playing at 800x600 and then changed it for your screen native 1920x1200..... (that's the x205 one right?) -
not at all... My notebook doesn't support 1920x1200..
I didn't say that it's related to vista, it's related to some of the updates that's for sure. 'cause i have changed nothing in my options.
I was playing call of duty at 1280x768... and now it lags big time.
Btw i'm so sure that anti-aliasing is activated. I can easily differentiate between anti-aliased image and none anti-aliased image...
Any suggestions else than switching settings in the NVpanel to performance? 'cause it didn't work ! -
Is your SLI enabled or not working? X200 is the Europe model? Try enabling the SLI indicator to see if it's working.
-
the x200-15k doesn't have an SLI configuration. I have a single 8700m GT vga . that's all
-
was AA applied before? I know that my x205 model (same as x200 to my knowledge) hates AA and runs smoothly without it on, but if I apply it, even with much lower settings I see huge drops in performance
I don't know how to turn it off with UT3 (check their forms) ..but for CoD4 and C&C3 you should be able to go into the video options and uncheck it -
The best thing u can do is to uninstall the driver, run a cleaner (that's very important) and then try to install your stock driver (from toshiba).

Thanks so much for the help guys !
Well you have to know that i formatted my computer after trying virtually evertyhing.. and i'm still having low frame rates at exactly the same video options that i used to use when i first bought the laptop !... I don't want to sound stupid or something , could it be something related to a hardware flaw ?!
Kind3r , if you have COD4 or UT3 , would you mind running an Frame rates' counter on your computer and providing me with feedback ? it'll be much of a help, 'cause i'll be able to compare your results to mine, since both of us have the same laptop ( x200-15k ) ... and plz make sure to tell me what Nvidia drivers are you using... -
This may not help much, but could you check your computer temperatures under load while running the games and post them here?
could be that you are getting an overheating problem, maybe a fan stopped working or bad ventilation.
Just speaking from experience of when my old desktop had this drop in performance (game fps) problem. In the end I had to replace the CPU fan and add in an extra one to the desktop which fixed the problem. -
My CPU is running at 32 degree C. the two cores have the same temperature... it's alot lower than an overheat state...

I think there is a fix for games with slow frame rates on the Toshiba website.
Here it is: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...BV_EngineID=cccjadedeffmdjlcgfkceghdgngdgmm.0
Try giving that a try. -
Thanks for your help allan_huang, But the list of supported laptops for this bios doesn't include my laptop
and btw, i updated my laptop's bios a week ago to the newest bios rom on toshiba's website for my lappy...
-
btw, i wanted to ask the following question :
My laptop is a x200-15k PSPB9E, and i really need to know what's the precise equivalent laptop to mine in the states ?... i mean among the x205 series laptops, what's the exact equivalent to mine ?
Thanks so much in advance
