Left it in standby mode overnight and now I have no power indicators at all. Checked the ac adapter, its good. Took the laptop apart and removed the ac inlet plug from the motherboard, it tested good. Power is getting to the plug that plugs into the motherboard but nothing works. Am I looking at a faulty motherboard? I heard the fan running and did not think that it could damage it, but given the amount of heat that this system generates I am assuming that something got damaged from leaving it like that overnight. I have attached the spec sheet from toshiba.

The same thing happened to mine. Sounds like the video card to me. Hopefully it didn't fry the motherboard too. I've read others have had similar problems just over a year of purchasing laptop. My warrantee is expired of course. If you find out how to RMA parts for this let me know. The only place that I found a new card is out of stock. Plus it's expensive.

Unfortunately, the only way to test for a faulty board is to swap it out. I have a feeling that the MOBO is fried. Can you find the part number on yours? I can't. Does it have to be the exact same one or is there another that supports this chipset?

I took it apart further and found the socket#. It is socket PGA478MN. I have searched and searched and cannot find a motherboard for sale anywhere that supports this socket. Can I upgrade to another mobo? Anyone ever heard of the PGA478MN, these are use in the macbookpro's aren't they.

this is the cpu socket configuration, otherwise known as socket p, not the board #.
also i had a sli2 that did the same at 9 months, fried the video cards. :(

    Dear rmcfee,

I am eager to know what happened to your laptop eventually, was it the motherboard? or turned out to be something else...
I currently have the same problem and the technician suggested it was the motherboard as well (no power indicator, not turning on, nothing...completely dead)
Taking in consideration your experience, what would you recommend?

Thank you very much in advance, your help is appreciated.
