I know more than a few of you have upgraded your processors in the x205 series and I was just wondering if anyone had a few tips on either the installation or on which processor to go with.

I am looking to throw in a T9300 or T8300 and want to know both what obstacles I might face, and where I might get a good deal on one.

I have browsed the x205 disassembly guide as well as taken apart more than my share of laptops. I am looking for insights gained by people who have done this as no matter how many laptops you take apart, there are always little things with each one that you are better off knowning beforehand.

I'd also like any feedback as to the performance gained.

    Thank you in advance.

I went with the T9300 because I wanted the best I could get but didn't want to spend major $$$ on an X9000. Knowing what I know now, even though the T8300 is supposed to be a better deal price vs performance wise, I'd still go with the T9300.

If you have any basic electronic and mechanical skills, you won't have any issues taking the beast apart and putting it back together....the guide someone on here posted is spectacular and very helpful.........the only suggestion I have, and this is in the guide too, make sure you keep track of your screws and where they go.......I numbered boxes drawn on a sheet of paper and labeled them to coincide with the figures in the disassembly guide and had no issues at all.

I got my T9300 from Compuvest for $312 plus shipping......that was a couple of months ago and prices might have come down since the new processors are out now.
