Hi I just got my x205-SLi2 3 days ago and it seems to run not as fast as I thought it should. I put it down to the ram as I only get at 3.7 in the vista rating (see pic). I was wondering since there is only 2 gigs of ram in it and I heard that the video cards use some of this will that effect the performance much?

Also as I am running vista x86 if I put 4 gigs in it and since 32bit can only read 3 gigs will the other one gig be used in the video cards?

    thx

Your speed test is pretty subjective. You have actual benchmarks or just feeling.

sounds like it's New. Therefore, you haven't done any driver updates, video updates, bios updates or Vista optimizations yet I assume?

Hop to it and come back in a few weeks and give us your experience then... :)

Yeah the notebook is new and I cant update the video card drivers as they are the only ones Toshiba offer (ver. 7.15.11.5664). My old notebook had a ATI video card in it and I was able to install modified desktop drivers onto it, is there anything like that out for nvidia? I know omega's latest ones don't do notebooks. Will get a optimizer and have a fiddle with that. Thx for the advice.

Head over to laptopvideo2go.com and grab the 177.66 drivers

Extract the 177.66 files to a temp directory

Find the originalinfs.zip file and extract nvco.inf. (the toshiba one)

Delete any other inf in the temp directory. (so only nvco.inf)

    Uninstall previous driver.

Run setup.exe from the temp directory you just created for 177.66 drivers.

Ignore Vista rating... use either a game timedemo or 3dmark06.

Do what KernalPanic says. but you don't need to go so far as the originalinfs.zip. Just grab the modded inf they post on each driver release, copy it into the expanded dir you created for the drivers replacing the original file.

    Works well.

Also, vista rating is a "joke" esp if you enable SLI. You have it, might as well enable it. :)

Thank you both for your advice. What I am going to do is do a fresh reinstall of vista ultimate so I don't have all the crap that toshiba installed with the notebook then get those drivers and get a tweaking program and have a go at that. Can you suggest a good vista tweaking program?

    Thx again

    Edit:
I just installed the new video card drivers and I can't believe the difference. Also the ram rating in vista went from 3.7 to 4.9 not sure why. thx again
