I'm not sure about Crysis or Dead space because I don't own them yet. The games I currently own and playing thru are; Fallout 3, COD5:WaW, GRAW 2 and Frontlines: Fuels of war all run great on high settings and screen resolution. Also, I'm not sure how accurate the "Can you run it?" site is but I've tested both games (Crysis, Dead space) and performance was very fast and it even recommends both games. One last note, if you end up getting the Q706 save yourself some time by not even bothering with Vista 32. You will see a big difference in performance with games that need the extra RAM like in Frontlines: Fuels of War. -
Airmanpanther, a benchmark for COD5 would be really good. You can check how to through guru3d.com.
-
Thanks, will do. I'm at work right now so it will be a little later before I can post some results. -
icon.. you should note that the system is SLI... so there are 2 x 9800GTS 512MB cards in there...
-
How about a 3D Mark 06 score also, that would really be great
-
i know it has 2 vid cards but it is the 2.26ghz that is troubling me. is it enough to run games????????????
-
I'm sure it could run games pretty good, I really don't know why Toshiba almost charges a extra $2000 for basically the same laptop but with a QX 9300 CPU? I know they are not that expensive.
-
Dude...relax! I assure you it's more than enough to run games. I'm able to play both fallout 3 and COD:WaW on high settings and 1680x1050 resolution with excellent fps. But hey, dont take my word for it, go ahead and burn an extra two gs for the Q708 if your not willing to believe me. -
Does anyone here have any experience with 3DMark Vantage Advance? I recently downloaded it so that I could run benchmark test's on my laptop but I guess it's not compatible with the GeForce driver(176.49) that's installed on the Q706.
-
The 176.49 driver is not the problem for sure, what exactly happens? or maybe you can try downloading it again and retry.
-
-
Try running as adminstrator
-
You have to buy the advanced version to be able to do runs at certain resolutions, just run it at the default resolution of 1280x1024 or whatever the default resolution is for your screen.
-
the 305/ 708 has 2 sli cards and 1 intergrade 9400 motherboard card. how does that work.

Off topic but do you guys knows if this laptop will be available at Bestbuy's?
-
Your machine has 2 9800 , right?
what's the 3dmark06 number on it? and what CPU you use? -
-
maybe this spring or summer and hopefully at a reduced price. -
Straight out of the box, it benchmarked a 9818 on 3DMark06. Let's see what it does after I peel all of the bloatware off and tweak it a bit.
-
The 9400m comes on automatically when your not using external power or when you change your power setting away from high performance. But you can manually customize your settings by clicking on the battery icon in the lower right corner of the desktop. -
-
i really wish that the powers that be would offers at least to different colors.
maybe a solid black or metalic blue or some type of metallic color -
I 100% agree the color scheme is a huge turn off, even if it had the X205 fake wood laminate or whatever it was supposed to be lid, it would be a huge improvement....WHY TOSHIBA!WHY!
I really don't know what they were smoking to come out with this hideous color scheme/flame combo.
Just a simple solid color would have been nice. -
its a dragon theme i bet. asian countries love that stuff
-
bestbuy has Q705, which is not as impressive as Q706. At that price range, I would prefer Sager NP5793, or Asus G71g-a1 over Q705.
-
my thoughts are the same. i heard that if best buy can get toshiba to come down on the price of the 706, they would keep them stock and replace the 705's
-
I'm about ready to dropkick my Q305-706. I have had a horrible experience with it so far. Before I get into it, let me start by saying that I haven't been able to run the 3Dmark vantage either. I suspect it is because of the following issue I'm having:
(running Vista x86 Home Premium)
It will not run any game in directx10 smoothly. Not one. So far, I've tried Crysis, Far Cry 2, and Assassin's Creed. I'm talking out of the box. It will run games awesomely in directx 9. Full or near full detail. If I try to run a game in directx 10, performance is miserable. Choppy audio and sound. Not even remotely playable. If you want to hear more, follow what I've done in another thread that I will post here once I have started it. -
His humbleness - your most humble - funky falling cat spangky -
Use the recovery console to restore your X305-Q706 to factory condition and select 64 bit operating system.
-
Well, I run Crysis ( demo) 64bit DX10 on Ultrahigh and 1680x1050 native resolution and i get like 30 -20 fps max, on less resolution Ultrahigh runs very fast!
Far Cry2 , DX10 ( High , optimize) runs smoothly! even ( High , Ultrahigh) runs good but I get some problems with the sound. ( it seems driver's issue)
Dead Space! all max no problems!
all above on max resolution ( 1680x 1050) -
I'm only getting 27.75 average fps with the crysis benchmarking tool but it is buggy at the beginning of the first loop where it plays at 4-5 fps then 30-40 on successive loops. -
[/IMG]I downloaded RivaTuner and it shows GPU2 as an unattached device.

Heres the where RivaTuner shows GPU1
