Anyone have a x305 with the 9700m gts that owns fallout 3? Can it be played at an average 30+ fps on maxed graphic settings without dipping below 19 fps?

Im keen to know about this as well, but from what Ive read an 8600 can run it relatively high with a stable fps, but I havent seen any real benchmarks of it yet and I would be surprised if it couldnt run it maxed

well I've read in the past that Gears of War was running on high settings on someones 8600m gt notebook and that he was getting 30+ fps, which made me go out and buy it for my 8600m gt x205 SLI1 notebook and I wasn't to happy with the results, and I know that the x205 sli1 would crush this guys single 8600m gt system. So I want to actually hear from a X305 Q701 owner exactly how much sustained fps it can generate on max settings I don't mind if I have to use Dx9 to get 30-40 constant.

I know that a lot of exaggerated benchmarks are out there, Im sure someone will let us know, but the specs of the game arent that high so lets be optimistic until then :D

Jacob and what kind of performance were you getting in GOW? As you can see in my sig, i play GOW at 60 stable, with unusual dips to the high 40's sometimes... This is with all maxed out (except AA) at 1400x900

No don't get me wrong it was nice but I had to use dx9 and lower the texure to medium or low and still had those "unusual dips" to like 5 fps and on the cut scenes it would jump and miss sections because of the cards being only 128 bit and the bandwidth not enough to push out all those high textures. So my expectations were high for the x205sli1 since the guy was maxed out using only 1 8600m gt. The X205 sli rigs are powerful in it's day. But playing the same games I had on the x305 with a single 9700m gts is a lot more satisfying I guess 256 bits makes a significant difference. I loved me x205 but it got stolen.

well it doesn't matter because you now have a x305, but i think you didn't config your x205 right... I play GOW all maxed, nothing on medium, all high, even textures on highest... And it never goes below 40, NEVER... :)

Same with me on my SLI1...i play GOW maxed out everything in high res. 1440*900 with 179.13 driver....it is the best driver i`ve ever had.....stable and pushing the sli to higher limits....even in Devil may cry 4 and the old NFS most wanted, the flashing of the cars dissappeared and every thing run smoothly

Yea, you will be able to (perhaps 2x or 0x AA)...at the native res of 1440x900.

I run it on my 7811 at 1920x1200 on high (I probably can do ultra, havn't bothered yet) with no AA or AF.

I just bought the game yesterday and I tried maxing out everything it ran pretty smooth till I left the vault. then it dropped below 20 fps. So I let fallout decide the settings and it's awesome constant 60 and the compromises aren't bad at all seems just as detailed as maxed although it dropped the res to 900x600 or something like that then all i did was set the res to 1440x900 and it stays steady at 50 fps so totally playable and looks awesome. Game is great to potentv especially when you leave the vault. So when you get it let fallout 3 decide your settings for max fps and then just change your res to native and you won't regret it. You can also try and customize it to your liking. I havent tried yet but maybe I'll play around with it but I want the fps to stay put above 30. If you found something let me know. Also I use Dox's 178.24 custom drivers so don't know if it helps but it gave me the highest 3dmark6 bench I have so far.

EDIT: I just put set everything to Ultra High Settings and turned off AA and Antriosopic Filtering or whatever it's called and at 1440x900 it stays steady at 35-60 fps. YEE HA!

Does the game have hiccups? I'm downloading it now and I just don't want to have it crash on me halfway =(
Even though I'm downloading Skullrupta's version...not sure about the game itself..

    I have a XPS 1730 with 8800M GTX's in sli and a 2.6 Ghz dual core. I get 30-60 fps 1920 x 1200 everything on ultra.

it seems a bit jerky so I usually reduce the detail

I just downloaded and installed the DX10 nov update and it seems to improve performance for fallout 3. No more jittery choppiness. I know a few posts up I edited and said I could run on ultra 1440x900 no aa no af but it would drop below 24 fps in some areas with alot of characters. But now I have it on high 1440x900 2x aa 2x af at nice constant 35-60 fps again with DX10 nov update or whatever it's called. I want to be sure it's not just me can someone confirm if they have same results with the DX10 update. I went to laptopvid2go.com on the home page clicked on the article title went to forums and then clicked on linked to file hippo and downloaded to desktop from there and ran install to update.
