Looking to use a SSD hard drive as the boot drive for my q8100x but dont know what type of sata connection is supported. I was unable to lacate it anywhere but does someone know if its sata , II (3gbs) or III(6gbs)?
Thanks in advance

the q8100 series has the HM65 chipset which means it's supposed to support SATA III. However, it will also work with SATA II and below.
Good luck -
Thanks alot for the help. I have a couple of questions for you if you dont mind, since you seem to be very well informed on the qosmio line.
Im still waiting on my 8100x so i havent been able to see what ill need for the SSD install. By any chance do you know if it already has a HDD caddy and connector on the second HDD bay? If not any idea where i can find one?
I already ordered 8gb of ram for it and only other upgrade id like is adding a Blueray drive. Any valuable info you might have in this process as far as compatible drives besides finding used drives on ebay?
Thanks in advance -
To be honest, I haven't checked, but I have read other posts that there is NOT an HD caddy; you must order one.
Here's the caddy part. If you look it's the 2nd HDD caddy for the q8104 (as the q8100 and q8102 do not come with the 2nd caddy).

After a little more research it looks like the SSD install shoudl be easy, just need to see if it has a HHD caddy or not, The Sata connector should be there
