I just noticed that the backlight keyboard is not working. I've tried the following:

    1- fn + z button = nothing

2-Toshiba setup utility= nothing (illumination is set to on)

3-Looked in bios (illumination is set to on)

All other lights are working. (cap lock, num lock the light above finger pad, power, and all the lights under power button), and all lights on right side in front of lappy).

Is it possible the keyboard light burnt out?

I can't really tell you when it stopped working. Shows how important typing in the dark is to me. :p

Any ideas/suggestions (I'm not sending it in to UPS for this) :D

    Thanks

Sorry Scanner. My guess would ahve been to check 1,2 and 3; but you have those covered.

Call Toshiba CS and let us know if they have any ideas. Hopefully you don't have to send it in. If you do, swap in the Default SSD before you send it in.

    Keep us updated.

Thanks, for the reply alexmuw. It turns out when I upgraded my CPU, I did not do a proper enough job of insuring that the illumination cable fastner was secured to the MB. Once I secured the connection "LET THERE BE LIGHT." I made doubly sure by using a thin strip of black electrical tape.

Oddly enough, while I researched my problem, I discovered the key board lights not working was not an unheard of problem. So, for anybody with this problem-YES even if you never opened up yours- if all the the steps I tried in my original post don't work your illumination cable may be loose from its fastner on the MB.

Fn + z = NOW WORKS (OH, happy day) :D
