Please add a piece of paper with your username on one picture, to prove ownership. Thank you!

I didn't even turn it on yet, and I don't want to. Because I want to sell it in brand new condition.

    What should I do ?

    Thanks

What he is suggesting is that you have the laptop setting out (on a desk perhaps), with a card propped up against it that says your NBR user name. Won't have to turn it on, just need to prove that you own it so we can help protect our users here.

I'm not trying to get "smart" or disrespectful with the management, but couldn't someone with ill intentions just photoshop their name onto a picture they found somewhere?

    Grav -

I have much the same reservation myself; however, the requirement here for the management to avoid being held responsible for the behavior of such unscrupulous people would be "taking reasonable care" to prevent it. You COULD require a photo with an encrypted digital signature and corroboration from THAWTE Security; but then who would use the service you provide?

I don't believe it's unreasonable to ask that one post a photo of an item with a notecard in the field to at least prove POSSESSION of an article one means to sell; most people are pretty good at picking out photoshopped images, even if they don't know WHAT's wrong with it, they will still feel uneasy about the pic.

Of course, the proof of possession of product is by no means proof of ownership; if you could prevent people from selling stuff that wasn't theirs you'd eliminate over 35% of eBay's business.
Again, we see the standard is REASONABLE CARE...

eBay lost their ethics years ago... or did they auction them off to the highest bidder?
