It depends on what type of Toughbook... What options it has, where you buy it from... If it is new or used.... yada, yada, yada...

cf-28 would do me really,cf-29 wifi would be great.HD 20gig would suffice. Not really bothered how fast it is as it will be mainly used for storing manuals in .pdf format.I would probably put on some version of linux or os x.Battery life is the one I'm worried about as I would like at least 2 hours use between charges.Cheers John

John... Then you will want the CF-29. I would imagine that you can get a good deal on ebay.uk can't you? We have several member here fro the UK... I believe that one even offered to sell you one in the other thread you posted in. rjenkins said he would have a cf-29 for you in a few days... You might want to check the other thread.

Robert and I have swapped emails he recommended I buy a 28 as it really is all I need.Roberts is really maxed out spec wise and its more than I need, basic only for me.No bothered with bluetooth gps ect...Now if anyone has a 29 and you want to put a 20g hd in it 500mb ram and just a dvd rom in it I would be interested

I dont know about any programs from panasonic for a discount for emergency workers. I know even when we buy them at the department we dont get any discount for being a goverment entity, they only cut you a little break on pricing depending on how many units you buy. If your department already has toughbooks, I would get in touch with whoever does your tech work for dispatch and get in on the deals when they pull them out of service and upgrade, thats what I do and I've gotten some killer deals. Not sure how it works in the UK tho.
