Hello everyone.... I need CF-28s badly... I have sold a bunch on special orders and then the customers have turned around and asked me to build more for them. Then there is the occasional one on ebay that I sell. I am now down to just a handful left and need some so when I get back from vacation I can get started again. I have a ton of parts so if the are missing port covers I don't care... Though I am looking for complete as possible. 13" touchscreen models preferably but would also look at 12" touchscreens and maybe the non-touchscreens too. I am looking for good screens... Not ones that have scratches all over unless the scratches are on the screen protector.

PM me with any info please....

    Thanks,

    Rick

    Hey Toughbook,
If you are still in need of CF-28s, we just picked up a bunch from an auction one of our corporate customers had. They're fairly clean, mostly rode around docked in service trucks.
I really have enjoyed all the CF-28 threads. Thanks for being here.

A friend is also looking for a decent affordable CF-28. He is handicapped and drives a 4-WD truck his dad god him used - he tends to be rough on technology and needs something that can take it. I can help him install the usual upgrades. doc

I just bought an 800MHz CF-28 with HDD and 512M ram in good shape for $225. , shipped, for our children. He'd like to find something close, at least under $300. It needs to include the CD caddy and HDD caddy. He would be running XP-Pro. What is the CPU speed and what is the maximum ram, please?
    Thanks! doc

    Hey you all,
might be a silly question, but as I've not actually had the pleasure of exploring the inner works of a CF-28, forgive me.
Is it not possible to upgrade the processor a bit? I've got (still) over 70 600s, although I've received a BoL from an infamous Toughbook Bob (still waiting on a check and a truck), and was thinking it would be a large boost in value if they were at least 800s.
Rick, I believe we located 2 or 3 1 gig units as well.
    Thanks

The short answer is.. NO :)

The processors are soldered to the board, and there other significant changes in the mobo between the 600 and the 800/1000 as well.

    harvester3,

What do you need for one of those CF-28's?

It needs to be essentially complete - good display (preferably a touch screen), good touchpad and mouse buttons, 600MHz is OK, intact HDD caddy and cable (HDD is not necessary), preferably intact CD-caddy (though I hear they are available for $98. from heartland). It really all depends on the price.

My friend is anxious to acquire a reliable one at an affordable price.

    Thanks! doc

    Hey doc,
For a 600 with touchscreen, 256Mb, 20 gig hdd, floppy, ac adapter, probly buck and a half plus shipping, if that sounds fair. They're clean, and run like they should.
    Let me know,
    Jim

    Anyone heard from harvester3?

Started a CF-28 conversation with him then he seems to have disappeared!

We've been having boat loads of tornado's down here. He could be busy trying to find his Toughbooks.

Just heard from him, all is well, thanks!

BTW: Y'all need to build homes by monolithic.com -- they can take a F5 tornado no problem and are the same cost per sf as a conventional home.

Prayers for all who have been affected - challenging times everywhere between storms, the economy, etc.

    Thanks again, doc
