This idea is great in theory, but I am going to hazzard a guess as to why nobody has stepped up to help is the licensing issue witn Windows. If someone installs Windows with their product key and then clones the drive, you will then have a machine that has that same product key. I know Win 7 makes it easy to change the key on the clone, but that is a big trust issue as it could cause activation issues with their key if it is not changed.
This would not be an issue if there was a factory restore disk for a CF-18/ Windows 7 which would use an OEM type key, but then again you would not need to ask in the first place if such a disk existed. -

Wyrm73 you got a good point there and very well said.
We also are walking a fine line here and don't want to get in trouble with the mods. I know we are not at that pointbut the last time some new guy jumped in on a thread without reading the Forum Rules and I had to track down a mod from another part of the forum to close that thread. Some times we just forget about the rules by mistake....I did it , I new better but just got caught up in the topic and also forgot which forum I was on
. I got my &ss slapped for that

Hi,
Bah, I thought I had some clone file offers!
I fully understand your concerns, but I'm really not looking for a clone with a Windows key at all as I have my own Windows 7 key. In fact, the Windows clone request was me just being lazy I supose as a copy of all the relevant drivers would help me greatly without the full clone. I thought that, on the off chance that somebody may have created such a clone for personal use, they wouldn't mind sharing..
IF anybody had a clone, but were concerened about the registation key, if they contacted me I would happily find out how to remove it and pass this information on to them before hand. -
Ahhh, so you need a driver disk more or less. I read the other post but I think I got my head stuck on the terminology because to me a clone= hard drive sector by sector copy.

You were correct in that ideally it was a clone file I was looking for (hard drive sector by sector copy). I was hoping that somebody may have installed Win7 and all associated drivers and then taken a clone of their setup creating their own factory restore disk in essence that they wouldn't mind sharing.
I can see how this was misconstrued as me looking for a key for Win7 however, although this is not my intention. I doubt if anybody would be willing to share such a file now after reading this, so I am now (lazily I know) looking to see if anybody has the drivers disk they would be willing to share.
Sorry for any confusion.
