Hi, I have a Simrad NSE12 marine chart plotter needing a new LCD screen, part number PD121XL3(LF).
It's not a touchscreen.
It's a 12.1", 1024x768, sunlight readable, high brightness screen with LED illumination strips along the (longer) top & bottom edges.
It has the very common (going by ebay pics) 20-pin flat socket that I'm hoping has standard pinouts.
Original screen was optically bonded to the outer glass plate with about a half pint of stinking goo that's melted and migrated over the years in the Florida sunshine. Common with these Simrads apparently - they tried to stop them misting up & created a far worse fault.
I've got feelers out with alibaba etc in China for the OEM screen, no luck yet - I suspect it's obsolete, as is the plotter.
All information or advice welcome, hoping to save false starts - a drop-in replacement would be great, otherwise I'll try replacing the LED's and diffusion, reflection and transflective(?) layers on a standard brightness screen with parts from my damaged one.

Thanks steve.steve!
I've messaged the ones I hadn't found before, waiting for replies.
I hate the way Google's dumbed down over the years.
I hate the search engines that hijack everything they can, especially the ones requiring sign up before they'll show the two irrelevant results they have, and the search engines whose only results are other search engines.
Why not a separate shopping-only search engine that works like a universal version of the old Yellow Pages phone book?
Then the real, no-salesmen-allowed internet would be able to go back to broadening our minds.
ps... replies coming in: all report NLA despite being listed as 'in stock' on their websites - no substitutes offered.
Given the hundreds of very similar items manufactured I find it impossible to believe that nothing is compatible.
Feels like some of these 'companies' are just a server in a dusty, forgotten cupboard somewhere.
If nothing pans out I'm going to buy a $20 used screen and experiment.
Thanks again!Wyoming88! and UNCNDL1 like this. -
Minor update on screen and connections in case anyone needs it in future.
XGA PINOUTS ARE NOT STANDARDISED on connectors that look like they would be - luckily screen model number searches produced full data sheets for the original and my old Toshiba replacement screen, with pinouts.
3x twisted data +- pairs, twisted clock +- pair, 2 x 3.3V, 6 x GNDS & 4 x NC's are all in different locations so there are at least two layouts. Also at least two non-interchangeable 20 pin plug/socket types, though with identical pitch.
Plugging the wrong screen in would definitely have fried the controller board & probably more.
Swapping screens was quite a bit of work but not $300 worth.Wyoming88! and UNCNDL1 like this.
WTB replacement 12.1" screen, advice welcome
