If anyone out there has a dead 29 mobo, or knows if the part from another mobo they have lying around, that would be totally awesome.

i need the "lock" for the touch pad ffc connector on the mobo side of a 29 (mine is an mk1). Ya know how the socket is whitish, and then there is a chocolate colored "lock" that snaps down? yeah, that piece. I should be the folding lock type, not the slide type.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have some dead CF-28 carcasses. Anyone know if there is an equivalent part in a CF-28?

You just missed out on one as I removed a few parts from a dead m/b and tossed it out

If you have damaged the clip , check the end of the flat connector from the touchpad as well as these are easily damaged

What's your address again? (< ) This as far as I know working DL3UP1431DRA has at least five brownish locks on it. The one just NW of the battery is the one you need right? You may as well take the board and break it yourself.

Price negotiable. F4UF4M. I'll send it to you and you send me some money or better yet a palm rest cover and touch pad cover. Used but good o.k. or?????

Let's keep it light and humorous.

How do you remove the covers without creating a jigsaw puzzle? I tried on an old carcass I have, but stopped because I thought it was about to break.

I don't know for sure, I looked at replacing a touchpad on an amazon unit I ended up sending back.

With it being peel and stick, i was gonna try a low temp heat gun, peel evenly as possible, and have a sheet of wax paper handy???

let me know how that works out though; I"m genuinely interested.

With a very sharp wood chisel. The direction of push is downward into the palm rest. You want it to cut the adhesive. Also you do not want to stretch the cover. Easy does it. Don't "get by" with a screwdriver. You want to cut.
The Touchpad scared me but just kind of ease it off and DON'T mess up the ribbon cable. If the black part of the touchpad bellies up don't worry. It's tougher than it looks. Hey! tough, there's a word.
There is generally enough adhesive left to just re-apply.

I kinda like combining both ideas. Someday when I'm bored I will remove this one, just for the sake of doing it.

sharp! 600 grit emery paper and finish with 1000 grit. Lightly sand the flat side to remove any feather edge. Lightly!
