A pair of 256MB (or larger) SDRAM PC100 (100MHz) DIMM 168-pin RAM sticks.

I have an old Dell PC that only has 256MB of RAM in it now and I want to learn Umbutu on it and the recommended minimum is 384MB.

would that be the type the Cf-29 MK2 uses? I think I have a stick at work when I upgraded to a 1gb stick in my 29

Azrial - if you don't get sorted before, I'll be home in a couple of weeks and I'm sure I have a couple of 512Mb sticks that were taken from a Dell knocking about. I'll email you when I get back. FOC to any pig with a grin like that :D

    Hey Azrial,
I'm back in the land of the living for a while. I searched through my odds and sods and this is what I found - I'm pretty sure they came from a Dell, but the precursers of senility occur more frequently these days, so I can't be sure  .

    Samsung MR16R1624AF0-CK8 800-45 256MB/8 x two sticks

I have a feeling the 800-45 means they are PC800, so they are probably of no use to you. However, check out the specs and if they are any good, I'll post them out to you
    Best regards
    Mark

Mark, that sounds ALOT like 184-pin PC800 RAMBUS RIMM module and IIRC, they have either a blue or silver heat shield over the chips.

I'm tempted to ask what you'd be doing with 'em but nah...

Yep, Ron is correct, non-ECC RIMM! They will not do it for me and are a good bit rarer then what I need. But honestly Mark, thanks so much for trying! :) BTW, welcome home!

But, hey the other day, while I was perusing eBay I found a company selling it for $10 a stick, and they are less then 5 miles from my home! So, it's all good!

That's good then - but if they are any use to anyone else, let me know. They are as Ron says, with the silver heat shield and I also have two 128MB sticks of the same serial number.
