i'm on the hunt for a toughbook. the ruggedized type. and not the small ones (cf-m34) but the larger versions (CF-27 / 28 and so on.)

    what i need is:

absolute minimum of 200mhz, higher i preferred. 500-600 would be splendid.

CD-drive unit ( the unit itself doesn't have to work, i will replace it for dvd anyway but the caddy and circuitry must be there)

256mb memory or more (i will consider one with less if its upgradable)

having a hard drive caddy is preferred but not necessary.

GOOD battery life 2 hours +

touchscreen would be preferred but not necessary

Price: 1000 SEK, meaning $134, 100 euro, 90£ including shipping to SWEDEN.

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: the CF-27 with the 500 mhz processor would be splendid

Be advised that shipping to Sweden at the cheapest rate would be about $55, leaving only $80 to spend on a Toughbook (to stay within your budget). Even for a CF-27, with the options you specified that will be a very hard find.

I have a CF-28 600MHz with daylight readable touch screen that I could sell with just the on board memory, a floppy and maybe a CD. No battery, no HD and no caddy. Will sell for $80.

well, if you have a battery for it i think i'll buy. of course for a higher price, that is. how much with a battery? since you got 4 and a half :) without the battery i dont know what use it is to me.

EDIT: so you think its unresonable to expect a toughbook for 80 bucks? i have limited experince with them so i'm still getting used to the pricing on these things.

yeah, i saw that auction yesterday. i'll keep an eye on it just in case. and yes, i'm leaning towards silver's cf-28. the only thing that bugs me the battery. i pm:d him if he had one for some extra cash but he didn't answer yet. and batteries here overseas are quite expensive. the thing is, i do have an all round laptop but it doesn't appreciate temperature over 40 celsius or sitting in the engine compartment of a car. thats why i need a TB.

Just an FYI. Silver Trooper is a stand up guy. I have bought from him before and he does what he says.
