    hi, Everyone:
Just buy a CF-18 toughbook on ebay from US. the seller has a winxp pro installed, it works fine just the stylus pen can't be used. I guess it needs to install a XP tablet edition to get it work(it has a XP tablet edition COA on the bottom). so if someone has that CDs, email me: [email protected] and I'm willing to pay for the item and shipping cost to Toronto, canada.

    hi,Alex:
thanks for the help! yes, the stylus pen works now. but I still need the XP tablet restore CDs cause there is a lot other fuctions like screen rotation,on-screen keyboard, etc which XP Pro doesn't have.

Those disks are hard to find
I have 3 cf-18's without proper restore disks
You might want to list your model # as well as the restore disks work only on the same mk# and they have to be digitizer as well

I have the same problem; I bought a CF-18DJAZAKM on ebay but it came with the wrong recovery disks. I need DFQX3988, but I have DFQX3799MA1-3 (MK2-XP1AM-TSW) & DFQX3853MA1-3 (MK3-XT2M-W).

All of the drivers for screen rotation etc are available on panasonic.ca. I downloaded 23 separate drivers for my MK2 there. IIRC there were a couple of digitizer drivers that I didn't bother with. If the machine will just get here I will post the results of reloading after I put in the big hard drive.

    Alex,
The new toy is a CF-18DHAMBKM. Its not here yet, I'm hoping the seller hasn't removed the options. Quick question, will any external USB DVD/CD-ROM or thumb drive work for loading the OS or do I need something exotic.

No you dont need anything special just any USB drive.

I used a USB thumb drive and i have used a NEC dvd drive to load the OS on a cf-18

I have the same disks as you have DFQX3799MA1-M00 (MK2-XP1AM-TSW)
That should work, but I know when I try to restore my mk-2 touchscreen ,that it says model not supported
The other disks that you have are for a mk-3

    These cf-18's are frustrating

I would like to figure out what panasonic did on these models as for each mk# there should be only 2 different restore disks, disks for the digitizer which contain the tablet o/s and disks for the touchscreen which contain xp pro
